Keyboard shortcuts
Keyboard shortcuts are combinations of two or more keys that, when pressed, can be used to perform a task that normally would require a mouse or pointing device. Keyboard shortcuts can make it easier to interact with your computer, allowing you to save time and effort when working with Windows and other programs.
As the keys are arranged
They can be divided into seven groups according to function:
- Typing (alphanumeric) Keys.Include the same letters, numbers, punctuation, and symbols found on a traditional typewriter.
- Control Keys. Are used alone or in combination with other keys to perform certain actions. The most commonly used control keys are Ctrl, Alt, the Windows logo
and Esc.
- Function keys. Are used to perform specific tasks. They were labeled as F1, F2, F3, and so on up to F12. The functionality of these buttons varies from program to program.
- Navigation keys.Allow editing text and move through documents or Web pages. They include the arrow keys, Home, End, Page Up, Page Down, Delete, and Insert statements.
- Numeric keypad. It is useful to enter numbers quickly. The keys are grouped into block in the same provision of a conventional calculator.
The following illustration shows how these keys are arranged in a typical keyboard. The layout of your keyboard may be different.
Typing text
Whenever you need to type something in, e-mail messages or text boxes, you'll see a blinking vertical line (
). Is the cursor, also called the insertion point. It shows where it will start the text that you type. You
can move the cursor by clicking in the desired location with the mouse
or by using the navigation keys (see the section "using navigation keys"
in this article).
In addition to
letters, numerals, punctuation marks, and symbols, the typing keys also
include Shift, Caps Lock, Tab, Enter, SPACEBAR and Backspace.

Using keyboard shortcuts
Keyboard shortcuts are ways to perform actions by using the keyboard. Are called shortcuts because streamline the work. In
fact, almost any action or command that you run with the mouse can be
accomplished more quickly if you use one or two keys on the keyboard.
In the help topics, a plus sign (+) between two or more keys indicates that they should be pressed in combination. For
example, Ctrl + A means to press and hold Ctrl and then press a. Ctrl +
Shift + A means to press and hold Ctrl and Shift and then press a.
Find program shortcuts
Most of the programs allows the execution of actions using the keyboard. To see what commands have keyboard shortcuts, open a menu. The shortcuts (if available) are displayed next to the menu items.
Keyboard shortcuts appear next to menu items.
Choose menus, commands, and options
You can open menus and choose commands and other options using the keyboard. In a program that has menus with underlined letters, press Alt and the underlined letter to open the corresponding menu. Press the underlined letter in a menu item to choose this command. For
programs that use the Ribbon, such as Paint and WordPad, pressing Alt
overlays (rather than underlines) a letter that can be pressed.
Press Alt + f to open the file menu, and then press I to choose the print command
